This is a story of passion, superstition and
adventure against the backdrop of the
Yugoslavian civil war and the romantic world
of rural Jordan. It is also a love story
revealing the transitory nature of human
passions. Plot and counterplot are
inter-wined in the drama of human conflict
and relationships.
A young English teenager travels to Jordan
to visit his author-journalist uncle
(veteran of the Yugoslav tragedy) and finds
experiences which catapult him to manhood.
The small village of Anjara, north-west of
Amman, becomes the backstage for many
emotional adventures and events; a mixture
of Middle Eastern superstitious beliefs and
real human passions creating stirring
conflicts; the essence of human drama. Arab
values and customs are in direct conflict
with imported western concepts and
principles. How these are resolved becomes
an engrossing drama in a colourful desert
mystery. |
